PH manifesto to make special commitment to Felda settlers, Indians

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 23 — The Pakatan Harapan manifesto is expected to make a special commitment to Felda settlers and also the Indian community here when it is launched sometime next month.
Called “Buku Harapan” (Harapan Book), the manifesto will also list down promises to be fulfilled within 100 days of a Pakatan Harapan administration, said Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) strategy and policy bureau chief Datuk Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff, who was part of the team responsible for preparing the manifesto.
Aside from five core issues that it will address, there will two special commitments to the Felda settlers, who are largely seen as among Umno’s largest vote bank, and the Indians, who are not exclusively represented by any PH party.
Hindraf has pledged to support PH in obtaining Indian votes before but it is not formally a part of the PH coalition.
“The manifesto is 88 pages long and is the work of strategists, and has been sanitised by experts in various fields,” he said.
The core themes of the manifesto remains addressing the issue of cost of living and institutional reforms, among others.
It is expected to be presented to the PH presidential council next week and be launched publicly sometime next month.
